SSA Snowboard Talent ID Camps 2008
It is our goal to get snowboard athletes onto the podium at World Cup, World Championships and Olympic Games events. Therefore, we have established a national talent id / transfer program, managed by Ski and Snowboard Australia.
As part of our search to unearth talented young riders, SSA will hold a talent identification camp for the following Disciplines at 2 of Australia’s leading resorts.
- HP- 4th August- 8th August Perisher
- SBX- 11th August- 15th August Mt Hotham
Come and demonstrate your skills and abilities in front of Australia’s National Coaches and athletes. In addition, hear what it takes to become a high performance athlete and learn about the pathway to World cup and Olympic Games events.

Burton Open Cancelled
Due to poor snow conditions the Burton Open at Falls Creek has been
cancelled.
Thomas Places 2nd at NZ Open
Emily Thomas has finished in 2nd place at the NZ Open
Slopestyle event in an extremely tight finish to US Open winner Hana
Beaman. A full international field of riders were competing at what
is now the first stop of the Burton Global Open Tour and a four star
TTR event. Emily qualified in first place one point ahead and lost
by one point in the final.
Snowboarder Cross TID Camp – FULL
Due to overwhelming interest we have had to close applications for
the Snowboard SBX TID Camp which is being held in Thredbo on the
14-16 August. Places are still available for the Halfpipe TID Camp
at Perisher on the 31 Aug – 2 Sep, but be quick as spots are filling
quickly.

The Parallel Giant Slalom and Boardercross events have been
cancelled from the World Industries National Championships schedule.
The events which were to be held on the 5th and 7th of August had to
be cancelled due to poor snow conditions. The Halfpipe competition
scheduled for Saturday 6th of August will still go ahead. For

Development team riders make podium
Ski & Snowboard Australia Development team snowboarders Michael
Williams, Stephanie Hickey and Kym Cragnolini have all made podiums
in Europa Cup and FIS races in Italy.
Williams collected bronze in a Europa Cup halfpipe in Piancavallo,
then followed up with silver in a FIS event.
Cragnolini won silver in one women’s FIS halfpipe event and finished
fifth in another, while Hickey also claimed a FIS silver medal, in
snowboard cross.
