Passion Lived Here: Farewell Torino 2006

Olympic moguls champion, Dale Begg-Smith carried Australia’s
national icon as flag-bearer for the Closing Ceremony – joining some
of the Games superstars, Canadian speed-skating five-time medallist
Cindy Klassen, Russian Federation figure skating gold medallist,
Evgeniya Plushenko and Italy’s luge gold medallist Armin Zoeggeler
in the honour.

Games effort a great success

If Australia “arrived” as a winter sports nation in Salt Lake in
2002, it certainly maintained the momentum at the 2006 Games in
Torino.
The colour of the medals was different, but the performances were
equal to the double-gold four years earlier.

Chesterman praises outstanding Australian team performance

Brauer vows to come back for more

Jono Brauer has promised to improve in all alpine disciplines and to
ski for Australia at the Olympics for as long as he can walk, after
failing to finish the first run of the men's slalom on February 25
(Day 15) at Sestriere Colle.
