The entire SSA website has been overhauled, with a fresh new design and added features including a search function. Changes will continue to be made over the coming weeks. The site is updated constantly, so please check back for all the latest news from all four disciplines.

Many of our athletes have already departed for the Northern Winter season, and many more will be leaving in the coming weeks. We wish all athletes the very best of luck in their training and competition endeavours.

This edition of the SSA E-News reminds athletes and their families about the fantastic travel insurance policies available and endorsed by SSA. We would also like to invite as many friends of Alpine Skiing to join us at the Sport Australia Hall of Fame dinner, where Zali Steggall has been nominated for induction into the Hall of Fame.

Travel Insurance now available

Ski & Snowboard Australia (SSA) via Comprehensive Travel Insurance Ltd (New Zealand), are delighted to offer a Worldwide Travel Insurance product for friends, family and supporters of Australian winter sport.
Specifically designed for those heading off to enjoy the Northern Winter ski fields, SSA would like to encourage as many individuals as possible to take out the cover, as each policy will provide for a rebate back to SSA development programs.

We believe you will find the pricing very competitive compared to other travel cover. Also be aware that aside from the rebate, the more policies families from the sport are able to purchase, the better chance of keeping premiums down for all of our athletes in the future.

International Competition License

Ski & Snowboard Australia reminds all athletes intending to compete overseas this summer, that they require an International Competition license and competition travel insurance.

SSA has a Worldwide Competition and Travel policy that provides for full travel insurance, and covers athletes for claims arising from competition and training activities.
This level of cover is extended to athletes of all ages and all abilities from regional competitions right through to World Cup and World Championships. The policy is available to athletes of all disciplines under the auspices of Ski & Snowboard Australia.

Sport Australia Hall of Fame Induction Dinner – A Special Invitation

SSA would like to extend a special invitation for all friends of Alpine Skiing, to join us at the upcoming Sport Australia Hall of Fame Dinner, where Zali Steggall is nominated for induction into the Hall of Fame.

Only one other Australian Winter Sports athlete (Malcolm Milne) has been previously inducted, and Zali is a very strong chance to be one of only three former athletes inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004.

SSA will be coordinating tables for the Dinner, and anyone interested in joining Zali along with some of Australia’s finest ever athletes across all sporting codes, are encouraged to book a seat without delay.

The Dinner is being held at crown “Palladium Ballroom” in Melbourne , on Thursday 9th December 2004. Tickets are $180.00 per person. For more information please email the SSA office, info@skiandsnowboard.org.au
