New SSA Doping Policy in place
It is a requirement of the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC),
Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and the International Ski
Federation (FIS) that all National Sporting Organisations adopt a
WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) compliant anti-doping policy.
The Board of Ski & Snowboard Australia has approved a new
Anti-Doping Policy that complies with all of the organisations
listed above.
It is very important that all athletes, coaches and parents read
through the policy and are aware of the procedures and
responsibilities of athletes in regards to doping offences.

to view the policy.
As always, the ASDA website remains the most updated source of
general information regarding doping and links through to the most
current WADA prohibited substances list, which is constantly
changing.
For further information on all athletes responsibilities regarding
drugs in sport please visit the Australian Sports Drug Agency
website,

2004 Alpine Exposure World Aerials
The 2004 Alpine Exposure World Aerials was as successful and
exciting as ever, and it was wonderful to once again see
Australia’s Flying Kangaroos produce fantastic results in front of
an enthusiastic home crowd. We are especially proud of Lydia
Ierodiaconou who came away with gold on both days, and of Jacqui
Cooper who staged a fantastic come back, finishing second on the
first day of competition.

SSA snowboard Halfpipe Talent ID Camp
The second ever SSA Snowboard Halfpipe Talent ID camp was held on
the 24-26 of September at Perisher Blue.
With Perisher Blue providing a first class pipe to train in, 18
young snowboarders trained with Australia’s best snowboard coaches
including National Team Coach, Ben Wordsworth and international
FIS judge Steve Brown.
The purpose of this camp was to identify talented half pipe riders
that the coaches believe have the potential to represent Australia
at the highest level of snowboard competition in the future. The
aim of the Perisher camp was to identify and select up to six
riders who met that profile, and provide an opportunity to further
their training as members of the SSA Halfpipe Development Squad.
After the completion of the camp the selection committee chose the
following athletes to be members of the SSA Halfpipe Development
Squad which will train for six weeks at Mammoth Mountain in the
USA.
Nathan Johnstone
Mark Baker
Jake McCarthy
Ben Johnson
Alison Deane
Max Long
Congratulations to all the selected athletes.
Make sure you visit the Ski & Snowboard Australia website to
regularly check the squad’s progress while overseas.
