Craig Branch has finished in 53rd place in the
opening World Cup downhill of the season, covering
the Lake Louise course in a time of one minute 53.83
seconds.
The gold medal went to Liechtenstein veteran Marco
Buechel, the third of his career, in a time of one
minute 50.72 seconds.
Young Canadian skier Michael Osborne-Paradis was
five hundredths of a second slower, securing his
first podium appearance, while the bronze went to
Peter Fill of Italy.
Branch and Olympic team-mate Jono Brauer will both
line up in tonight's super G event.
